This Teacher Asked Her Entire Class To Be Her Flower Girls And Ring Bearers And It Was Adorable

So many teachers can attest to the fact that their students hold a special place in their heart. Sure, everyone has to deal with problem kids, but for the most dedicated of teachers, their classroom turns into a second home and their students become extended family.

It’s no surprise then that when Indiana teacher Marielle Slagel Keller got married this year, she went above and beyond her duties as a teacher and asked each of her young students to be part of her special day.

The bride shared how having her students there meant “everything” to her. “They’re the kids that mean the most to me. They’re a part of who I am,” she said.

When the kids found out they were going to be in their teacher’s wedding they were thrilled, but for the groom-to-be it was a slightly different emotion that was experienced. “I said, ‘This is lovely,’ but in the back of my mind, I’m thinking, ‘There’s a 25 percent chance this will go according to plan.’ I thought, ‘This is going to be interesting: a herd of 6-year-olds coming down the aisle in this very important moment.’”

It seems the groom’s concerns were all for naught, as all 20 kids walked down the aisle in matching white outfits of varying styles and were perfectly behaved for the entire ceremony. Except, “There were a couple that shielded their eyes when we kissed,” Slagel Keller said. But what else would you expect from kids?

Immediately following the vows, there was a “cupcake ceremony” for all of the kids which was a sweet gesture and something a teacher would definitely think of. But before the cupcakes, all of the kids ran over to give their favorite teacher a hug and in that moment Slagel Keller knew she made the right choice having them there.

She also said, “I’m really close to their families…They supported me throughout this wedding planning process, so it wouldn’t have been right to not have them be there the day of…To have those kids walk down the aisle for me was really special. There were a lot of tears.”
